  1. Rick says:

The choice should not be pro-pap or anti-pap. It should be a critical assessment of the govt (of the day, which ever the party is running) on all its policies with multiple viewpoints for/against it. It should move away from the one-sided ‘nation building’ agenda which is basically a whitewash of everything-proposed-is-great-and-positive spin because “they say so’, and everyone should fall in line to stand behind it! That is what irks most of us. The game is so imbalanced, and shameful, it is truly a national shame for us Singaporeans!

  2. henry says:

I am with Rick. Independent media means writing, reporting issues with a neutral stance.
Without quoting word for word, some journalistic latitude should be allowed. Admittedly, the reporter will have personal values and viewpoint, but that should be clearly stated.

As for the current state, shameful is a very tender description. Thick skinned I say.. and they don’t give a damn too.

Keep well and safe journeys.. thank you for sharing your….. independent views!

  3. Russell says:

Anything goes, we just need a proliferation of local independent media sources. That is ofcourse, if the Newspaper and Printing Presses act is repealed. Only then can the media truly be ‘independent’

  4. Hypocrites are demonic says:

@….What does ‘independent media’ mean to you? Does it mean:

Impartial, balanced coverage of both PAP and Opposition

    Anything goes

Why need this kind and way of questions? ……Pro-PAP? …..Anti-PAP?….. Anything goes ?????

Is the writer so moronic that the simple and universal fairness of “impartial and balanced” coverage of PAP & Opposition is so “chim” for his understanding to gain his acceptance? Or, he has other agendas for posing those questions above?

  5. Saycheese says:

Independent media means a party organ devoted to nation-building controlled by the PAP.
